Past Initiatives to take into the future

Whether it is our book of the year (Listening to Country by Ros Moriarty for 2010) or a piece of internationally significant literary history (the Brendan Kilty/James Joyce Seat of Learning at the State Library of Victoria) Mary Dalmau and her bookselling colleagues have displayed a genuine and deep commitment to individual books worthy of the broadest readership and to adding to the global literary landscape. As we move into 2012 and beyond, such initiatives will continue to figure strongly in our endeavours.

Events and Festivals

Renowned for creating and staging the very best literary events and festivals, Mary Dalmau and her organisational partners will continue to imbue Melbourne (a UNESCO City of Literature) with vibrant and relevant gatherings that bring the world of the book to life.

And also….

Ebooks, online retailing, school and library account facilities, national and international book ordering, as well as quarterly book guides and a wonderful membership programme, are all part of what we will offer the reader.

marydalmau.com is the symbol of a new era for a
group of passionate and dedicated booksellers.

Who is Mary Dalmau?

Mary Dalmau is a vocational bookseller working in Melbourne since 1977. A librarian by training, she has been President of the Australian Booksellers Association, a judge on national book awards, a volunteer to the library community and the General Manager of Reader’s Feast Bookstore since its opening in 1991. As well, Mary Dalmau has been the instigator behind many of the literary events in Melbourne.

Dear Reader's Feast privileged reader programme members, customers, and visitors to this website,

In July of this year, we closed the doors on the store at the corner of Bourke and Swanston Streets in Melbourne.

I opened that store in 1991 and am pleased to announce that a new business, called Reader's Feast Bookstore, shall open before the end of the year.

For those of you who know me and know many of my colleagues, you will appreciate the excitement with which I can make this announcement.

A vocational bookseller of 35 years, I am delighted to be starting a new chapter in the literary history of Melbourne (a UNESCO City of Literature) Victoria and Australia.
